A Future without Limits
Our aim
To introduce students to possibilities and options available beyond Archway. To build knowledge and confidence so students make informed choices about their future. Careers Education, Information, Advice, and Guidance (CEIAG) is important and it:
- prepares students for opportunities, responsibilities, and experiences of life
- supports students in achieving their full potential
- empowers students to plan and manage the future
- provides comprehensive information on all options
- raises aspirations
- promotes equality, diversity, social mobility, and challenges stereotypes
How we do this
- Applying the Gatsby benchmarks.
- Career activities through Years 7-13, with the aim of building knowledge and understanding of opportunities available.
- Teachers apply their skills and knowledge, linking curriculum learning with careers. STEM subject teachers highlight the relevance of STEM subjects for a wide range of career paths, and all teachers emphasise the importance of succeeding in English and Maths.
- A focus on the importance of understanding the work environment and the expectations as trainees, students, and employees ensuring you recognise the culture, behaviours, and skills sought by employers and universities/colleges to give you the best start at being an effective contributor and fulfilling your potential.
- Maximising the benefits for all students using a whole school approach which involves Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) from qualified advisors and support from school staff.
- Preparation for greater independence and self-reliance by providing support for managing time, finances, and wellbeing.
- Effective careers guidance contributing to raising aspirations, improving motivation, and overcoming barriers to success.
